As deadly wildfires continue to ravage Australia, it is unclear what the scale of devastation will be and when life will go back to normal. Fire chiefs have warned the worst of the summer is “still ahead of us”, after expressing alarm at the severity of the spring bushfires.

More than 600 homes have been destroyed by bush fires so far this season in New South Wales, according to the Rural Fire Service, and six people have been killed so far. The bushfire crisis has now spread as far as Victoria and South Australia, with emergency level fires in several states.

With the bushfires showing no signs of abating, employers have a responsibility to make sure their staff and clients are safe in the event of a fire.

Do you have employees working alone in high bushfire risk areas?

Whilst you might think of lone workers as those that are self-employed or people that work out of hours, many people work without close or direct supervision. If your employees regularly work alone, visit clients and travel on their own, they could be significantly at risk.

StaySafe has a suite of products designed to protect and monitor your employees whilst they work, travel or meet with clients alone or in remote locations. Whether you are concerned about lone workers or worried about protecting all of your employees in a crisis, we can help you ensure you maintain your legal duty and protect your staff.
