As deadly wildfires continue to ravage Australia, it is unclear what the scale of devastation will be and when life will go back to normal. Fire chiefs have warned the worst of the summer is “still ahead of us”, after expressing alarm at the severity of the spring bushfires.
More than 600 homes have been destroyed by bush fires so far this season in New South Wales, according to the Rural Fire Service, and six people have been killed so far. The bushfire crisis has now spread as far as Victoria and South Australia, with emergency level fires in several states.
With the bushfires showing no signs of abating, employers have a responsibility to make sure their staff and clients are safe in the event of a fire.
